A career that pays like sales and matters like care.
Scale Health builds the workforce behind regulated healthcare. From trainee to desk owner, this is a place to learn one market deeply, get paid properly for it, and know exactly what your work changed.
No formal application, no aptitude test. A 20-minute call about what you want to build.
Scale Health hires trainees, experienced consultants and clinicians into specialist healthcare search. You own one sector, work retained and exclusive mandates, and progress on a clear ladder from resourcer to principal consultant or head of desk, with commission uncapped at every stage.
What is a career at Scale Health?
Healthcare is the one market that cannot stop hiring.
is a service that can see more patients, a waiting list that moves, a clinician who stays in the profession.
learned properly beats five learned badly. Depth is what makes you valuable and what makes clients call you back.
on every role we advertise. You never have to defend a listing you cannot stand behind.
Independent providers, digital clinics, diagnostics and Right to Choose services keep growing while the people who staff them stay scarce. That combination is what makes a specialist health desk one of the most durable careers in UK recruitment: high fee values, repeat clients and work that visibly changes how care gets delivered.
Trainee to desk owner, with the numbers in the open.
We publish pay bands on every role we advertise, so it would be odd to hide our own. The figures below are indicative UK market ranges for recruitment careers, drawn from published industry pay guidance rather than a specific Scale Health offer. Your package is agreed with you.
Trainee / Resourcer
Learn one specialism properly. Candidate mapping, market research, screening calls and shadowing live mandates from day one.
No agency experience requiredConsultant (360)
Own candidate and client work end to end. Run your own shortlists, pitch retained processes and take your first named accounts.
First retained mandateSenior / Team Lead
Lead a desk, mentor juniors and take the harder searches: medical leadership, governance, pre-launch clinical builds.
Named accounts and repeat clientsPrincipal / Head of Desk
Run a specialism as a business. Set the strategy, own the numbers and hire the team underneath you.
Build it as your own bookWhere you start depends on what you have done. Where you finish is up to you.
You do not need a recruitment CV. You need a reason to care.
Trainee route
Structured academy: market fundamentals, clinical vocabulary, search method and call craft. You are on live mandates in week one, not shadowing for three months.
- ·Graduate and career starter friendly
- ·One sector from day one
- ·Weekly coaching against real deals
Switch your market
Bring the method, we give you the market. Regulated health carries higher fee values, longer client lifecycles and far less commodity competition than generalist desks.
- ·Warm, live network from week one
- ·Retained and exclusive processes
- ·Uncapped upside, no vertical hopping
Move out of delivery
You already know rotas, governance, caseload and what safe staffing looks like. That knowledge is the hardest part of this job and it cannot be trained quickly.
- ·Keep working in health, off the rota
- ·Advise on workforce, not just fill jobs
- ·Full search training provided
What we look for.
- · Genuine curiosity about clinical pathways, not just billings
- · The patience to learn one sector properly before chasing the next
- · Comfort holding a senior clinician's attention on a first call
- · Honesty under pressure, because candidates make life decisions on what we say
- · A view on where regulated health is going
What we offer.
- · Sector focus and a named specialism you own
- · A warm, live network to work from day one
- · Real mentoring from operators who have done the job
- · Retained and exclusive mandates rather than contingent scramble
- · Uncapped commission with no arbitrary ceiling on a good year
- · Hybrid working with structured in person training
Live work in week one. A market of your own by month three.
Learn the sector: pathways, regulators, job families and what good looks like. Sit on live client calls and run your first candidate conversations with a consultant beside you.
Own a slice of a live mandate. Map the market, build the longlist, write the outreach and take feedback on every call you make.
Take a named specialism. Set your own targets, run your own pipeline and start earning commission on placements you sourced.
Questions people actually ask.
Do I need recruitment experience to join Scale Health?
No. We hire at three entry points: trainee resourcers with no agency background, experienced consultants moving from another market, and clinicians or health operators who want to move into search. What matters is curiosity about how care is delivered and the discipline to work a market properly.
How much can a healthcare recruitment consultant earn in the UK?
UK recruitment pay is a small base plus commission. Industry guides put a trainee or resourcer around a £22k to £26k base with £28k to £32k on target in year one, a full 360 consultant in the £30k to £40k base range with realistic on target earnings in the £50k range, and senior or principal billers well beyond that. Specialist desks such as regulated health typically carry higher fee values than generalist desks.
What does progression look like?
The standard UK ladder runs resourcer, junior consultant, 360 consultant at roughly two to five years, senior consultant or team lead at five to eight, then principal biller or head of desk with P&L responsibility. At Scale Health you can also own a named specialism and build it as your own book rather than being moved between verticals.
Can clinicians move into healthcare search?
Yes, and it is one of the strongest backgrounds we hire. If you have worked in a clinical service you already understand rotas, governance, caseload and what a good service looks like. We train the search craft around that knowledge rather than the other way round.
Is the role remote or office based?
We run a hybrid pattern with structured in person time for training, market reviews and client work. Early career hires spend more time alongside experienced consultants because that is how the craft transfers fastest.
Pay figures are indicative UK recruitment market ranges compiled from published industry pay guidance, including the REC and KPMG Pay and Reward in the UK Recruitment Industry reporting. They are not an offer.
