Clinical Data Scientist

Turn messy real world clinical data into models a regulated care pathway can actually deploy.

Healthcare data with a clinical team who will tell you when the model is wrong.

Why this role exists

The company has more clinical data than clinical insight, and the models it has built cannot yet be defended to a clinical safety review.

What the first twelve months look like

Two models in production with documented evaluation, a reproducible clinical data pipeline, and evidence the clinical team believes.

What you'll own

  • Build and validate models on real world clinical data
  • Define evaluation methodology before deployment
  • Work with the Clinical Safety Officer on model risk
  • Communicate findings to clinicians and to commissioners

What we need to see

  • Strong Python and SQL, applied ML in production
  • Experience with clinical coding systems such as SNOMED CT or ICD-10
  • Understanding of bias, drift and model evaluation in healthcare
  • Able to work alongside clinicians without hiding behind the maths

About the organisation

Clinical AI company deploying into NHS and independent provider pathways.

Questions candidates ask

What does a clinical data scientist earn in the UK?
Clinical data scientists typically earn 65,000 to 100,000 GBP in 2026, with health tech paying above NHS bandings. This role is banded at 75,000 to 95,000 GBP plus equity.
Do I need a clinical background for clinical data science?
No, but you need clinical data fluency: coding systems such as SNOMED CT, an understanding of how records are actually created, and comfort working with clinicians.
