Interim Clinical Quality & Governance Lead | Neurodevelopmental Services

Interim Clinical Quality & Governance Lead assignment across ADHD and autism services in England, paying £650 to £800 per day, dependent on experience. The initial term is six months, four to five days per week, with remote working and agreed service-site travel. IR35 status will be determined following assessment of the engagement.

Turn a rapid review of clinical risk into lasting governance improvements that ADHD and autism teams can sustain.

Why this role exists

This assignment is for an experienced governance leader who can assess a service quickly, identify its most important risks and deliver a clear improvement programme. Alongside the Medical Director and operational leadership, you will strengthen clinical quality, inspection readiness and governance across neurodevelopmental pathways. The emphasis is on implementing improvements, establishing clear ownership and leaving processes that internal teams can maintain after the assignment ends.

What success looks like

Within the first month, leadership should have a clear view of the principal risks and an agreed delivery plan. By the end of the initial six-month assignment, priority actions should be evidenced, quality reporting established and internal teams able to maintain the improvements. A clear handover, sustainable processes and accountable internal owners are central to successful delivery.

What you'll own

  • Complete an initial review of governance arrangements, clinical risks and evidence of service quality.
  • Produce a prioritised improvement plan with clear owners, timescales and measures of success.
  • Review CQC readiness against current requirements and assess preparations needed for relevant regulatory changes.
  • Establish a focused audit programme covering assessments, records, consent, safeguarding and follow-up.
  • Review incident and complaints processes, ensuring learning leads to demonstrable changes.
  • Strengthen clinician credential checks, supervision arrangements and competency assurance.
  • Introduce concise quality reporting for clinical and operational leadership.
  • Leave a clear handover, with sustainable processes and accountable internal owners.

What we need to see

  • Senior clinical governance or quality leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of ADHD, autism or neurodevelopmental services.
  • Evidence of delivering CQC preparation, governance improvement or service remediation.
  • The ability to move quickly from reviewing evidence to implementing changes.
  • Confidence challenging senior stakeholders while maintaining constructive relationships.
  • Experience producing clear assurance reports and managing competing clinical and operational priorities.
  • A clinical background is welcome, but proven governance delivery and credible experience within neurodevelopmental services are the essential requirements.
